Is the charger disconnected, the machine cool and undamaged, and your hand away from the trigger?

  • Yes — Continue with the matching parts and the checks below.
  • No — Stop for a damaged charger, burning smell, liquid exposure, a swollen or leaking battery, broken catches or an obstruction you cannot safely reach. Contact Dyson and keep the battery sealed.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

  • No — Liquid exposure, battery damage or modification needs Dyson support before charging.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

Do you have the correct undamaged Dyson charger and an indoor place away from moisture and heat?

  • Yes — Prepare the location before connecting power.
  • No — Verify charger compatibility or choose a suitable location first.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

4. Follow and record

Complete the checks before recording physical work. Follow steps in order.

  1. Choose the location

Select a dry indoor place away from heat sources and moisture. Keep the machine at room temperature before operating and follow the temperature guidance in the manual supplied with your machine.

Look for: Do not move a freshly charged machine into cold storage below 50°F / 10°C. The manual says the machine switches off below this battery temperature.

Manual: pp2–3 Important safety instructions; p11 Looking after your Dyson machine; p12 Charging and storage
  2. Protect the charger cable

With the charger unplugged, inspect its cable, plug and housing. Route the cable without stretching it, trapping it in a door or creating a trip hazard. Hold the plug when unplugging.

Look for: Damage or an unsuitable cable route must be resolved before charging.

    Manual: pp2–3 Important safety instructions
  3. Allow cooling after full discharge

If the battery has just fully discharged, let the machine cool for a few minutes before recharging. Keep the battery clear of surfaces pressed flush against it during use.

Look for: Cooling is the manual’s stated precaution; this task does not assign an invented precise wait.

    Manual: p12 Charging and storage
  4. Choose charging or long storage

For charging, use only the specified Dyson charger and observe the normal charging display. For long periods without use, unplug the charger as instructed in the safety section.

Look for: There is no prescribed storage charge percentage or monthly charging cycle in this task.

Manual: pp2–3 Important safety instructions; p11 Diagnostics – lights during charging
  5. Leave the appliance ready for return

Ensure the bin is below MAX, both filters are dry and fitted, and the machine and cable rest securely in the chosen place. Use the charging-light task for an unfamiliar indication.

Look for: If a filter was washed, finish its full drying task before the machine is used again.

Manual: p11 Emptying the clear bin; Cleaning the clear bin; p11 Vacuuming; Washing the filters; p12 Looking for blockages
  6. Save your own review date

Keep the chosen place, charger check and action in the record. Any next review date you set is your own plan; filter washing still follows its separate manufacturer schedule.

Look for: Location checks are repeated when conditions change, not on an invented manufacturer service interval.

Manual: pp2–3 Important safety instructions; p11 Looking after your Dyson machine; p12 Charging and storage

5. Keep your result

Record what you observed. A completed checklist does not certify that equipment is repaired.

When to check again

Changing the storage place, charging after a full discharge or leaving the machine unused for a long period.

As needed for this condition. No fixed calendar interval is specified for this check; choose your own review date if useful.
